2010 Health Resolutions
January 1st 2010 18:35
The top resolution for New Years has to be living healthier. Getting in shape, eating better, lose weight, etc., the ways and means for better health could be endless. This also seems to be one of the hardest to maintain. I base this on the fact that every year in January there are more new people at the gym. This influx usually lasts until March and then starts to drop dramatically. If you signed a contract with the gym, you may have squandered your money by not using it.
My personal opinion on why that is is because people usually bite off more than they can chew when they join the gym. They exercise hard and long and eventually fall into the tired, hurting and fatigue trap. Even if you start slowly and build your way up, you need to know what your peak performance is and not go over it.
Here are tips on how to lose 10 pounds in five weeks.
On my pedometer I take anywhere from 12000-23000 steps/6 days a week. I'm currently going to the gym once a week. Hopefully it will increase as I am finally going to join a better gym with more benefits and less expensive with short term membership.
When it comes to foods, get rid of white breads and pastas and replace them with whole wheat. Cut down on sugar.(I know a girl who takes 8 spoons of sugar in all her coffees. I use to take 3 per cup. I cut to 1, she should cut to 3). Cut down on, or eliminate soda. I drink seltzer and club soda. Space your meals and portions. When hungry it may help to drink water before diving for food.
