All Good In Moderation
July 16th 2008 23:19
How many times have we heard studies that something that is bad for you suddenly becomes good for you in moderation? Alcohol, coffee, you get the point. In moderation good. In extreme bad. Maybe not everything is bad if taken in moderation.
There are debates about if egg consumption is good or bad. It is often associated as being bad for your heart. It is loaded with cholesterol. Let me tell you about my egg consumption. A dozen may last over three weeks. I eat 2 when I do have eggs for breakfast...or any other time. Some eggs today also come with Omega-3. Am I doing it right? Perhaps, but the egg does have health benefits.
A new study may change our views on eggs. From article:
Among more than 21,000 male study participants, an intake of up to six eggs weekly did not increase mortality. However, those who ate seven or more eggs weekly were 23 percent more likely to die during the 20-year study. Another long-term study, which followed men and women for 16 years, also showed no association between egg consumption and either heart disease or mortality.
I once read somewhere that if you eat one egg a day for six days, an equivalent of soy should be consumed on the seventh day. You know my thoughts about soy, but even in moderation I believe it is beneficial. Unfortunately soy is in many, many everyday foods.
