Alzheimer's-Victory IS Closer

Perhaps Alzheimer's will be controlled or cured in my immediate lifetime. Research has taken an aggressive attitude towards beating a disease that is, and will be, ever increasing with the aging baby-boomers. We have come to the point of identifying genes that are common in Alzheimer's patients.
It has been 16 years since the discovery of the first gene associated with Alzheimer's. Duke University was responsible for identifying that gene. Duke does it again. The new gene is a dream come true. The gene not only predicts the risk, but also the approximate age of the onset of the disease.
Here's a more scientific version of the study.
On the other hand, the discovery of the gene confirms that single in midlife increases your chances for Alzheimer's. The key to the equation is that you must have the APOE Alzheimer's gene!
