Taking Care of Your Appearance While Losing Weight
March 27th 2007 00:08
When I was at my highest weight, it was winter and I wore the most ugly, baggy clothes in shades of black and grey. I never wore makeup or styled my hair - in fact, I didn't even wash it every day (a big mistake!). Naturally I was uncomfortable with the way I looked and assumed since I was "fat" what I did to my appearance didn't matter.
I see this with a lot of people who are overweight - generally not taking care of their appearance. I think this is very important while you're in the process of losing weight - even though you're not at goal, it will make you feel better to look nice.
I've gone from wearing no makeup and not styling my hair to wearing nice clothes (for my budget anyway) and being a complete makeup junkie! I recently got into mid- to high-end makeup and let me tell you, it is worth the money. I feel so much better knowing I look nice. Of course I have to make sure the credit card doesn't get maxed, and that I spend only what I have. My bathroom is filled with containers of makeup and face cream, lotion, nail polish, and perfume. It helps me to feel better during this transitional period, where I still am not at the place I'd ultimately like to be (although I will get there!)
I keep telling myself someday I'm going to start a beauty blog...but I'll admit that my makeup know-how is limited. So for now, I'll stick to the diet and weight loss posts...but I'll look fabulous doing it!

Or the opposite, wearing clothes that fit them when they were many sizes smaller...
