How's Your Body Image?
February 19th 2007 15:58
Hey guys, I was online and I found this at eBeautyDaily - it's a body image quiz. To get there go here.
Here's how I scored : 80% Unhealthy, 20% Healthy:Your negative body image is borderline serious. It could turn into an eating disorder or psychological problem.
Perhaps you're just having a bad day. But maybe you need to think about getting help for your problem.
This was after checking boxes such as: You're sure you're going to get plastic surgery - it's just a matter of getting the funds, and: You hate having your picture taken.
I think someday I might get a tummy tuck, and/or liposuction in my chin area (it's saggy and weird). Perhaps this stems from all the celebrities who don't think twice about procedures like this - but yet they have the money...very important...
I suffered from an eating disorder for many years (that's another post). I try to go about weight loss/ maintenance in a healthy way, but the bad body image persists. I know this is not limited to people with eating disorders, however. It's affecting millions of us.
When I was very young (say, six or seven) I was with my mom and my aunt, waiting to be seated at the Olive Garden. My aunt said "You are going to look just like your mom when you grow up" (or something to that effect - I was always being told by relatives that I looked like my mom).
Having a screwy body image even in those early years, I bawled: "I don't wanna look like my mom! I don't wanna have big legs!" Of course my mom's legs were not big, but compared to my little stick-legs - they were huge.
This stuff can start early - and persist for the rest of your life.
