Brain Power

September 7th 2008 17:31
We can rationalize about brain health, but most of us are aging it quicker than need be. Dr. Daniel Amen has much to say about brain health. I just caught this PBS special. He helps you change habits that are extremely harmful to the health of the brain. He discusses how to decrease your Alzheimer's risks. He lays it on the line that alcohol is not a health food and to stop using it as an excuse to drink. He claims that two drinks a week is the required amount. Caffeine, cigarettes, and drugs can decrease blood flow to the brain. Dr. Amen also points out the importance of social contact to stimulate your brain.

The program actually got me to thinking about Aging and Brain health, because I am almost there. It's never too early to start on brain health and research. Here are some unique brain foods, although Dr. Amen claims too much caffeine might restrict bloodflow.

We should really get to know our brains. It is the real control center of our entire existance. You can hear the latest on brain health and exercise your brain with games here. One thing that all can agree on is that exercise is always important for brain health.

Other ways to fight brain disorders such as Dementia can be found here. There is so much about brain health research that is ever evolving. The important thing is to increase bloodflow to the brain, and stop doing what may decrease bloodflow. Brain research is constantly changing.

So lets keep our brains healthy and sharp. Every little bit helps. If given the chance, the brain can become healthy again at any age.
