Bread of Life

Disclaimer: This is not a product promotion. It is a quest to find a healthier lifestyle by eliminating foods you love that are bad for you.
My weakness has always been Italian bread. The one we use in the USA. For the record in Italy the bread is whole grain, not the enriched bread we are accustomed to. I would consume at least one loaf of bleached bread a day. This went on for most of my life. About 85% or better of it.
My weakness was white bread and pasta. If you followed this blog, you know my change from enriched to WHOLE wheat was for a pancreatic cancer scare that has shaped my life for a change. Throughout my life my weight has fluctuated in the 230-285 lbs. Folks, I have gone below 220! And I am eating and getting full!
I am going for a total physical next month and will see what my doctor says about my fantastic weight loss. I would hate it if it is due to cancer since I feel healthier than ever before in my life. Oh lighten-up, after all it is levity to give a secret for life!
WHOLE wheat is a secret ingredient to weight loss. You can find many whole wheat pastas but they come in spaghetti, twists, or penne. I like Gia Russa pastas because their 100% whole durum wheat flour comes in shells and rigatoni! I like this product but stick to any 'whole wheat' product.
Bread is my weakness as we all know and I went in search of the perfect substitute. Let me state that any whole wheat is better than any enriched. But many contain sugars, high fructose corn syrup, and my personal peeve soy. So I looked and took the lesser of the two evils.
I found the Best Breads at a local market. Some are growing so well they will become a worldwide phenomena.
Start at Heidelberg Baking Co.. Forget the rest, here is the Whole Wheat. Ingredients are real simple: whole wheat flour, water, salt, and yeast. Keep It Simple Stupid on the easiest level of health. Being a grainy bread it is very filling when water is added.
Finally I have found the ultimate bread. It may be a bit expensive but is totally worth it. Find it at Nutribreads.

My serving sizes are my current downfall, but they are fractional compared to days gone by! I still indulge and go overboard at times, but I don't feel guilty and I seem to retain a balance. I did great during the holidays in that I ate everything but in smaller portions. Unless it was healthy like shrimp which I can eat by the tons!
Believe it or not, it's better to eat 12 small meals a day than 3 or 4 large ones.
