Would You Eat Cloned Animal Products?
February 5th 2007 18:12
So the FDA is saying that cloned food is as safe as the original. I'm not so sure. What I've read is that the two types of animals are ALMOST identical. That means there's a slight difference in the cloned meat, dairy products, etc. - although they will probably taste the same.
Haven't we seen this happen before? They used to think that high fructose corn syrup was the same thing as sugar, only cheaper. Except now we find out that it causes a host of problems - like elevated triglycerides and bad cholesterol. It's happened over and over again. The problem is these "man-made" additives and foods are not natural, so our body doesn't know how to process them. How is the FDA so sure we will know how to process cloned meat and dairy?
If you are wanting to avoid cloned foods, check the label for "organic." Organic companies reject cloning and don't use pesticides or antibiotics. However, these are more expensive, which means it may be cheaper just to eat the cloned food.
What about restaurants? They're certainly not going to pay more for organic food. Will we be eating cloned hamburgers and steaks, and cream sauce made from the milk of cloned cows?
I'm certainly not happy about this, because I live on a budget, and can't afford to buy everything at health food stores (although I'd like to). Fact is, it's easier and cheaper to go to a local grocery store and find milk, eggs, and cheese there (I don't eat much meat). Looks like that will be changing.
What do you think? Would you eat cloned products? Post and let me know.

I wouldn't choose cloned food to eat if I had a choice... but what if I didn't? What if there wasn't enough food to feed the expected population?
What are the side effects of such 'food' as a source? I mean the real ones, not the FDA propoganda, we all know what rot they serve up and always make me wonder what the hell they are there for in the first place.... but I digress ...
I'm with you, better running cars!
My opinion? If you can't afford it, grow your own, but keep it as natural as possible.
OMG can you imagine what cellular mutating can happen from eating cloned sheep and lettuce grown in moon-like laboratory's on half light and oxygen? Evolution is in for an exciting ride I think....
