Fighting Cancer One Gene at a Time
June 6th 2010 16:51
A new lung cancer drug called crizotinib shows big promise in early stages. The drug targets a gene that promotes tumor growth. The current side effects diarreah, nausea and vomiting, seem rather mild.
Although more studies are needed the drug looks very promising in the overall results of fighting the deadliest cancer. Locating and targeting specific genes is making it easier to come up with successful ways to cure and treat deadly cancers, among other things.
