Future Health Pandemic
April 29th 2009 19:16
In today's headlines we are hearing about a possible pandemic of Swine flu. This isn't about that, but about a possible future health pandemic that will have an impact on children. I might be wrong in that we are seeing the signs of this disaster in the present. When I read this article, I felt sick, angry, annoyed, and a host of other feelings too numerous to mention. I also remember reading that children getting diabetes and heart disease are on the increase.
The woman in the article had triplets and brags about feeding them McDonald's food food to them since they were six months of age. She thinks that if she removes the battered skin off the fish fillets they become healthy. She blames her own weight on a thyroid problem. She claims her children are healthy.
My personal opinion is that the woman lives in denial and she is abusing her children. She claims she has no time to cook, and one has to wonder what she actually does? Her last name, Salt, seems to be appropriate!
I'm sure that some will agree with her since their infants are probably overweight for the same reason. This article reminds me of the black lungs of a smoker they showed in schools to discourage smoking. My hope is that it scares more people, than the lungs did, into living a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their children.
