How Do You Mend A Broken Heart?

May 20th 2008 23:42
This isn't so much about the 'love' issue as it is about your heart health. Here are the 10 steps for better heart health. A good heart might lead to a good long life, in my opinion.

The 10 steps are:
#1-Know your numbers when it comes to cholesterol.
#2-Calculate your risk. Smoking, high blood pressue and cholesterol, for example.
#3-Lose weight if you need to.
#4-Slash your intake of saturated fat.
#5-Junk the junk food.

#6-Fill up on fiber.
#7-Replace refined grains with whole ones. First word in ingredients should be 'Whole.'
#8-Go fish. Beware of food allergies as the author found. Find substitutes if that is the case.
#9-Get nuts...as in walnuts, almonds, etc.
#10-Enjoy alcohol in moderation.

These are a good start to mending and repairing a heart from heart disease.
