More Brain Boosters

Health information is ever evolving and at times can become outright confusing. Just the various debates on coffee, wine, and other indulgences become confusing when you read it's good/bad for you. I say take the information and don't overdo it. If coffee has health benefits, maybe there are certain restrictions that may make it unhealthy. If you pour 10 spoonfuls of sugar in coffee, it may be extremely unhealthy. Maybe a couple of glasses of wine may be healthy, but a gallon at a sitting won't give the same benefit. An overall benefit may be had by avoiding both coffee and wine all together.
It reminds me of people who eat salads thinking they are healthy with bleu cheese and other fat dressings. Oil and vinegar is the healthiest combo but it would make some avoid a healthy salad. Then they wonder why they keep gaining weight eating healthy? That's another topic but I hope you see where I'm going here.
Here are 11 Brain Boosters. Keep unhealthy fats to a minimum. Fruits, vegetables, fish, will all help your brain power.
I am a firm believer in getting all or most of your health supplements from food itself, but this is at times impossible. We don't eat fish as much as we should...I've just developed an allergy btw, therefore I can't get the fish benefit...so sometimes supplements in pills and capsules can fill the gap.
They do bring up the benefit of wine and warn to sip not guzzle. The wine should be pinot noir...that suddenly shot up to an outrageous price. This should also be limited to 2 glasses for men and 1 glass for women. Better is to just skip the alcohol and drink grape juice instead. But who am I to preach?
Aspirin is somewhat of a shock to me, but it makes sense. It also mentions ibuprofen. The thing is that alcohol should be avoided with both because it puts stress on the liver and never take ibuprofen if you take aspirin, or vice-versa.
Meditation or breathing exercises can be an enhancement to rest the brain and keep it sharp. Laughing and optimism are an essential to boosting your brain...see previous entry!
No human is an island. Solitude will definitely shorten the life of our brain as well as our longetivity. We need social stimulus because we are social animals.
A tired brain becomes exhausted and is unable to function efficiently. Sleep is important in brain health. Keep your brain healthy with puzzles and teasers that involve thinking.
Exercise is a tonic for your brain and cardiovascular is best. Set up a routine and stick to it. I tend to combine cardio and weights at one time.
Neurobics is the new word in brain health. Specific kinds of sensory stimulation causes brain cells to secrete molecules called neurotrophins that act like nutrients to improve cellular health. Showering with my eyes closed, for example, is something I've been doing for many years!
You might also want to check out the superfoods for the brain. Pomegranate, kiwifruit, barley, cranberry, broccoli sprouts, kefir.
