61-Calorie Popcorn Recipe
February 1st 2007 17:48
On my last blog, I wrote a review of a great diet book - YOU: On a Diet. I liked it because it gives you factual information about how we store fat, get hungry, etc and what happens in your body during these times. Also, it has some good recipes. This particular one, I liked a lot:
You need:
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
Flavored cooking spray (butter, olive oil, garlic)
Garlic salt or cinnamon
Place the popcorn in a two-and-a-half quart microwave safe bown, microwave for four to five minutes (don't burn it!) Pour it on to a baking sheet, coat with spray, and follow with the garlic salt or cinnamon. The calories for this is 61, fat - .8 g, carbs - 5 g, protein - 1 g, and sodium - 0 g.
Make sure you use about 1-2 seconds of spray at most - with Pam, that's 14 calories. If you use 1/3 second, I really doubt you'll cover the popcorn.
I like this recipe because most popcorn that you buy isn't that great for you - a lot of them have trans fats, and stuff like Smartfood has a lot more calories.
Next post - good and bad fats.
