Rules Of The Gym
January 9th 2010 15:34
I've been actively going to the gym for over 3 years. I usually get enough exercise at my job, but a gym seems to compliment it, and lets me focus on specific muscles. I just switched gyms which means that I'm a new kid on the block, sorta speak.
In January, many people start signing up at gyms across the nation due to that New Years resolution to exercise more. By March many stop going or going as often. I've explained this already in another entry on this blog. The important thing is to take it easy and not fall into a super training routine when you first start. In other words, don't overdo it!
Many people don't know that there are certain 'unwritten' rules that apply to gym use. Many are just common courtesies that people should practice, while others are to not get everybody to hate you!
Finally the gym rules have been brought to light. I've even learned a few new ones myself!
I'd also suggest bringing a dish towel to wipe down the equipment. In some gyms they have paper towels and a germicide spray to wipe things down. Things to wipe are what you grip, where you sit, where your back leans on, where your droplets of sweat land(unless its the floor or treads of a treadmill), and basically any part of the equipment that your body touches while exercising. The grip gloves are actually no excuse not to wipe, because they actually contain more bacteria than your bare hand!
