Got A Sedentary Job? You Might Be Gaining Weight

Many of you may have a desk job - one that doesn't get you moving much during the day. Apparently, many people with sedentary jobs are subject to weight gain and don't get exercise after work either (10,000 steps a day is recommended). A few jobs, like nurses and postal workers, get at least 9,000 a day (postal workers get 18,000).
I know that my day involves mostly sitting in front of a computer, researching, typing, etc. If I didn't go to the gym, I doubt I would get any exercise at all. And I don't do much walking or cardio, so I doubt that I get my 10,000 steps. Cardio can be great for your heart and overall health.
Wondering how you'll have time to fit exercise in? Some people work out during their lunch break, but if that doesn't appeal to you, even fitting in little things like taking the stairs, parking far away, etc can help. All you really need to get some good exercise in is 20 minutes and a treadmill, elliptical machine or bike. If you want to burn more calories after your workout, try weight machines or free weights.
Right now I have use of my college gym, but I'm moving a ways away this weekend. Fortunately I'll be equipped with free weights and a couple treadmills at the apartment's gym.
I know this doesn't sound like any fun, but I feel so sluggish when I don't exercise. You'll improve your fitness, feel more energized, maybe even drop a little weight. Give it a try!
