Sorority Kicks Out Less-Than-Attractive Members
March 6th 2007 21:01
Delta Zeta, a sorority at DePauw University, recently were visited by a national sorority which conducted interviews and led to 23 girls being kicked out. Apparently they were just not attractive or thin enough. The remaining 12 girls were all thin and blonde (6 left out of solidarity to the other members).
Now, I'm not and have never been a member of a sorority so I can't say I know how it works, but they were huge on the UT campus. In the beginning of fall everyone walked around in matching T-shirts with little pins on their backpacks. In my freshman orientation, more than one girl asked me if I was going to "rush" (are you kidding me??).
However at our school it's a little different. Yes they are all blonde/pretty/etc but UT is a party school and a lot of them have a gut! I had never heard of anyone being kicked out for something like that, rather UT is a party school and I guess if you're hooking up with frat guys at parties and doing keg stands, this is inevitable.
I saw a picture of the ousted girls, and they looked lovely. No one can be perfect but I really don't get why they would be kicked out - doesn't seem right. What does this say about the University in the first place? That they would rather be popular than accept members with different looks and body types? Ridiculous!
I am just glad I never joined a sorority because I'm pretty positive I wouldn't have "fit in." Besides I can't walk around in those little spike heels to go to meetings or whatever. Not on the sidewalk!
What do you guys think about this? Let me know!
