Spring/Summer Fashion

I thought I would first give you an update on my weight lost with low carb. So far it's 14 pounds, 4 inches off my waist, 2 off my stomach and another 2.5 off my hips (those are the only measurements I do). Seeing as it's getting warmer and I was feeling more confident about my weight, I thought I would do some shopping for summer.
I first stopped in Old Navy. I think their clothes are sturdy, wearable and not too skimpy. I tried on a host of things - thankfully, everything in a 4 - and ended up buying some shorts that met my criteria (a decent length so people can't see my underwear!).
I noticed a lot of poofy, flowy tops there that I didn't buy - but apparently this is the fashion for spring. I saw even more when I went into my favorite juniors' clothing store, Wet Seal - and bought a couple without trying them on. Big mistake! I got them home, confidently took the tags off, and THEN tried them on. The worst was a peasant top with itsy-bitsy sleeves. When I put it on, the top was straining at the shoulders, I couldn't see where my boobs were even supposed to go, and my arms hurt because the sleeves were pinching at them.
Now, granted, I'm getting a little old to shop in junior's sizes (plus I have giant shoulders that make it hard to buy their tops) but do these sort of shirts look good on anyone? I mean, the waist is cut to right below the chest and then they sort of flow down...like a smock. I guess they look good on runway models and perhaps 12-year-old girls, but no one else.
I do love the plaid prints on everything. I bought a pair of plaid shorts at American Eagle (size 4) that I really liked (although I have no idea what to wear them with!). I'm getting to the point now where my legs don't look as flabby to me so I don't mind wearing shorts now and then.
Losing this weight has made a big difference as far as shopping goes. I don't have to worry about how thick my waist is, etc. I do still have 15 pounds to go - but as long as this trend continues, I'm happy.
Has anyone been shopping recently? Have any pet peeves about spring styles? Let me know in the comments!
