Water Logic

After years of buying into a multi-billion dollar water industry, suddenly we are forced to state the obvious. Water is water! By the time it is imported from France it loses 'something.' Being a big buck industry, the water prophets need to sell their product to the gullible and naive. Remember that word...naive!
Years ago I lived in Europe. I lived near a water source where villagers came to fill their various containers. My father said we should bottle it and sell it. We all laughed and laughed. Water was common and FREE in those days!
Somehow we tend to be conspiracy minded and think the government is out to pollute our water supply. If not the government, then terrorists or the boogey man! Reality check: It is easier to poison bottle water than municipal purified water. Survival check: Instead of storing and bottling water, buy purification tablets in Boy Scout and Army and Navy stores!
Municipal water is safe, and even the bottled water industry admits it. This was said years ago, but just recently began to dsink in.
Lately we have been told that the bottles are environmental disasters. Well, duh! Not to mention the fact that plastic may not be a good idea as a whole...that's another topic. You know it's bad when the money losers fight back!
New York City gets it's water from the Adirondack Mountains. Or so it did at one time! Their water was one of the world's best before bottled water. Now NYC vigorously promotes it's tap!
Free water is not bad water. I've given up soda and prefer Seltzer and Club Soda and also Mineral water. But I will never buy the original bottled water called Evian. It was this water that made me understand the wisdom of my father. Has it occurred to anyone that Evian is naive spelled backwards? The whole fact is that we are rather naive about bottled water and will pay a price for something that is already free!
